In the last 5 years water tank design has gone from strength to strength, as more innovative construction methods and new materials have allowed water tank designers to push the boundaries of conventional water tank design.

The plastics and polymer revolution in water tank design has been around for many years now, with a plastic water tank of almost any size, shape and colour now possible.

Some of the key points when choosing a new water tank design, for either the home or business are as follows,

1. What size of water tank is needed?

2. What water tank design is best suited to the situation and requirements?

3. Is there enough space for an above ground water tank or is an in-ground water tank a better option.

4. How much roof area is required to best fill the water tank?

5. What size of pump is required to move the water to where it is needed?

The most common question faced when purchasing a water tank or looking at a new water tank design, is by far, what size of water tank is needed?

For the average home and average water needs, a water tank around the size of 1000Lt to 3000Lt is usually more than sufficient to meet these needs.

The most common water tank design found today is the plastic or polymer water tank, which can be found in the traditional round tank, with many water tank designers moving into rectangle or square designs.

There are even some water tank manufactures that have a water tank design that resemble rocks and boulders, which allows for the installation of these water tanks in sensitive environmental areas.

The traditional water tank design of a round water tank made from steel is still commonly found throughout the world, however these water tanks are also going through a period of change and a new water tank design utilising steel seems to pop up every month.

The other major area of water tank design and manufacture in recent years has been the development of the rubber water tank bladder, which has tremendous potential.

As this water tank design is totally flexible it can be installed under houses or factories or even in the back of vehicles for the transportation of water.

With so many water tank designs available, the key to finding the right water tank is research, talking to qualified sales people and setting a budget which is often over looked.
