Planning Your Childs Birthday Party
By: Susanne Myers
Are you having a birthday party for your child? The idea of having to feed, entertain and take care of 20 little kids who are filled up on sugar can seem like a daunting task. At the same time, you want your child to enjoy his party and get a change to join in on the fun. With a little bit of planning you can have a great time along with the kids.
Plan Ahead
Plan everything from what food you will serve to what games you will play and even a timeline of what your little guests will do when ahead of time. Shop for nonperishable items (like decorations, snacks, party favors, etc). at least a week ahead of time. Prepare as much as you can the days before the party and decorate the night before. That will leave you more time to enjoy the party along with the kids.
Use Disposables
Get a disposable tablecloth, paper plates and disposable cups. After the party, you can wrap all the stuff up in the tablecloth, drop it in a garbage bag and toss it. Not only is clean up much easier this way, but you also don?t have to worry about broken dishes.
Get Some Help
Who says you have to do everything yourself? Get some help both for the preparation of the party and for the big day itself. Ask family members to help get the party set up and consider asking 2 or 3 parents of kids you invited to come along for the party to help out. Another option would be to hire a high school student or a young neighbor to help with the set up and keeping the kids entertained.
Keep It Short
Remember, your child?s party doesn?t have to be an all-day event. In fact, it will be more enjoyable for everyone involved if you keep it to two hours or less. That?s plenty of time for everyone to enjoy themselves, eat some cake and watch the birthday boy or girl open presents.
