If you have new dogs or puppies, make sure that it does not develop the ability or behavior of jumping over fences. For dogs, the practice of fence-jumping is act of rewarding itself. A dog will likely never realize that jumping over a fence is unwanted behavior. Dogs associate jumping to a 'good and fun thing do.'

A dog should learn basic training early on its life. A puppy that's around two weeks old can already be trained with basic commands, such as stay, sit and come.

The command ?stay? is crucial to teaching a dog not to develop fence-jumping behavior. The master should shout 'stay!' when he sees the dog position itself to jump over a fence.
