Please Take Me Home
By: Deborah Coss

It seems to me, at least for today-
That some of us are born with a healing way.
While others may hurt you and leave you alone-
Someone like me-gives you some joy, you can call your own.
I can?t tell you, how many times I?ve heard it said,
My kind and loving words seem to go straight to your head.
And while others may kick you while you are down-
Then stomp away with a big moody frown-
People like me become your special friend.
Seems we?re here to put broken hearts on the mend.
Some people keep knocking at my front door-
Cuz I make them feel good and they simply want more.
But today is just one of those days,
When my own reason for being, seems lost in a haze.
I?ve helped to heal the truly broken hearted,
Given first aide to their souls and help them get restarted.
But today Lord, it?s my own heart that aches;
It?s my fragile spirit that suffering the breaks.
So Lord, tell me where I might find someone like me-
Someone to ease my pain and help set me free.
Where do I go when I need to depend?
Where do I go, when I need a special friend?
Lord guide my feet and soul if You will-
I?m hurting so bad, I can?t hardly stand still.
So, I?ve looked all around and I?ve looked high and low.
I have yet to find someone who cares which way I go.
So, God, I?ve got a huge favor to ask, and I think I am due.
Could today be the day, I come to spend eternity with you?
I know You didn?t intentionally over look me.
But I?m tired of being alone, so please just set me free.
I?ve walked this earth long enough, and all alone.
So Lord, I?m begging You, today, please take me home.
I don?t mean to complain and I don?t want to sound weak-
But without someone special, life is just too bleak?
