How to Place Digital Images Into Website Pages
By: Stephen Condren

There are some very useful methods for placing digital images into your Website. The images can be any size file that you like, however, remember that the larger that the image is the more difficult it will be to handle and also for others to view and handles as well. My recommendation is to use the large images as ?dead-end files?, that is a file or image that is the last thing that you will see and is not picked on or utilized for anything other than viewing.

When you have placed your large file image into your template it will expand the borders of your template and distort the proportions. That is ok, it is necessary to do so, this is a kind of tolerance that is needed when placing files. You need some give and take, otherwise you would never get the images into rows and columns because the ratio (proportion of width against height) would have to be perfectly measured out before you even placed an image!

Now that your template has been stretch out too far this is how you quickly and easily get it back in. At the bottom right hand corner of the image (not the template) move your mouse over it. A double arrow on an angel will appear indicating that you can size the image up or down, in this case you want to size it down. While holding down your Shift Key press down on the left mouse button and move the mouse straight to the left, you do not need to move it in an upper left angle across the image, since you have picked the double arrow that mode has been engaged and all you have to do is slide the mouse to the left or the right.

Now read carefully here. You have moved the mouse far to the left of the screen, now lift it and move the mouse over to the far right side of the screen and just near the bottom you will need to move the screen over to the left a bit to get the mouse to be off of the template and on to the white space to the right of the template. Move the bottom bar so that the screen is to the right and then touch the white space to the right of the template, immediately the image will snap into place for you.

If your image is still larger than the template repeat this step. If you see that the image is smaller than the template and you will know this because there is white space to the right of the image, just again, grab the lower right corner of the image, hold the ?Shift Key? and you will see the angled arrows. Just move the arrows straight to the right and it will automatically fit the image in the template when you stretch it to the right side of the template space.

I was born and raised on the south side of Chicago in Hyde Park Township, near the University of Chicago. As I child I was always drawing and painting. My father owned an art supply company, Favor Ruhl & Watson, where I was able to get all that I needed to progress in my work.

I have always enjoyed portraiture and landscape painting. In High School (Naperville Central High School) I took Drafting from Mr. Pierce. I quickly grasped the principles of perspective and drafting and hence made a career with both Fine Art and Architectural Renderings.

In the mid 1970's I joined the US Navy and was stationed on board the USS Midway, CV-41. The Midway was home ported in Yokosuka, Japan (A suburb of Tokyo). While in service I traveled all over Asia including such countries as Korea, China, Philippines, Singapore, Pakistan, Hong Kong, and Japan. While in Japan I learned Japanese. I speak German and Spanish as well.
