Meta Description Tag Part 2

What is the Meta description tag?
The Meta description tag is a HTML piece of code used between the Head of a document, the description tag is used by search engines to understand the content of your web page. The Meta description tag is displayed in the search engine results page underneath the page link.
Example of the Meta description tag:
Meta name="description" content="Enter description here"
Why use a Meta description tag?
You would use the Meta description tag to help towards your website optimisation campaign. Search engines use this tag as one of their ranking factors but I wouldn?t worry too much about it.
It is also useful to include your sales pitch in the Meta tag as people will often read this when displayed in the search engine results page.
Dos with Meta description tag?
? Try to include your important webpage keywords in this tag
? Make sure it is a description of your webpage, and try to use keywords actually used on the optimised page
Don?ts with Meta description tag?
? Don?t spam the meta tag with keywords, this will not help you in any way
? Be brief and descriptive
? Don?t use too many words or it will look bad in the search engines eyes, this could also affect your conversion rate.
